1. Прочтите и переведите текст.
London is the capital of Great Britain. It is a large industrial and cul-tural centre. It is one of the largest cities in the world. Its population is more than 9 million people. London is divided into two parts by the river Thames. They are the West End and the East End.
The City, where nobody lives, is the commercial centre of London. There are many banks and offices there. Whitehall in the political centre.
The East End is the district of industrial enterprises. There are many plants and docks there.
In the West End there are many famous places of interest, museums, theatres and parks.
The Houses of Parliament, Westminster Abbey, Big Ben, Buckingham Palace are situated in the West End. Hyde Park and Trafalgar Square are also in the West End of London. Like Hyde Park, Trafalgar Square is a place where meetings and demonstrations are held.
Westminster Abbey is famous for its architecture. In Westminster Ab-bey English kings and queens are crowned.
